Pretium Announces Bio-Based Sports Nutrition Bottle Line

Pretium Packaging is announcing a bio-based resin option for its CBM branded sports nutrition bottle line to help address market demand.

Bottles ranging in size from 2 ounces to 2.4 gallons, with finishes between 28 and 165mm can now be made using Braskem’s I’m Green™ polyethylene produced from ethanol sugarcane, a renewable material. “As one of the leading suppliers of bottles for sports nutrition and supplements, we are continuously exploring ways to help these companies market their products in packaging that supports their brand objectives.  Frequently, the health-conscious consumers that purchase these products also care about environmental issues. That’s why it is important to offer packaging options that meet brand objectives and also resonate with consumers,” said Seamus Keith, vice president of Pretium’s sports nutrition market segment. 

High-Density Polyethylene Bottles

The bottles are extrusion blow molded and can be manufactured at any Pretium location across the United States and Canada that currently has high-density polyethylene (HDPE) capability. The company’s extensive manufacturing footprint helps put bottle production in close proximity to the customer’s filling operation.

“Pretium has been making bottles using post-consumer recycled content for several years. This new bio-based capability enables us to provide yet another level of environmental responsiveness, for those brands that are interested in this premium offering,” said Keith. “Additionally, the bottle can be recycled in the #2 HDPE waste streams.”

The new bio-based capability is ideal for a wide range of nutritional supplements ranging from organic proteins to weight loss products.
